Screen golf Korea

Screen golf is a room, probably no bigger than a living-room, that has a huge, projection screenat one end. Onto this screen a golf course of your choice is projected. Ten feet back is a small elevated platform that is basically your shooting area. Like the driving range, the ball is maneuvered into position by an elongated claw. The material you play off is carpet like, and onto this small rise is a tee (which cannot be height adjusted), a surface to play your irons off and a putting area.

Like golf, the object is to propel the ball forward and the computer built into the room records the pace of the swing and calculates how far the ball would have traveled had it not been interrupted by a giant screen. The same rules that govern golf are in play here too. Each player tees off, and the competitor with the shortest drive will play his or her second shot first.

The screen also has lots of added information running down the side. It will tell you the wind strength, the elevation to the green and a rough hole lay-out. The screen will also tell you all the necessary distances and recommend a club to play.

The attraction of screen golf is that it costs just $20 per person for 9 holes. It’s also a good way to kill a slow Sunday afternoon with a few cans of Hite (Korean Beer), or Soju (Korean Liquor), and it is, certainly, a lot of fun. You also get free use of clubs and are not restricted by any clothing restrictions. Come to Korea and try a round of screen golf with friends, and have some good times!
